Leederville Toy Library

Leederville Toy Library

We at the Leederville Toy Library recognise the Whadjuk Nyoongar people as the traditional owners of the land where we live and play.

The Leederville Toy Library is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides families with hundreds of high quality toys through an affordable annual membership.

There are lots of benefits to joining a toy library! The huge range of toys promotes learning through play, helps to reduce toy clutter at home, enables toy rotation to keep children engaged, is environmentally sustainable, saves money, and allows parents and carers to “try before they buy”. The Leederville Toy Library has hundreds of toys for children aged 6 months to 7 years with categories including: babies (0 – 2 years old), construction, vehicles, fine motor, animals, Montessori, open-ended play, STEM, popular culture (e.g., Bluey, Paw Patrol, PJ Mask), music, dolls and dollhouses, playsets, ride-on (e.g., scooters, bikes), pretend play, costumes, puzzles, games, water tables, and sports – plus more! You can browse the catalogue here.

We are excited to introduce new sensory-friendly options for children with additional needs, thanks to a Department of Social Services grant! Explore our expanded collection for diverse sensory needs, look for the "I'm a sensory toy" stickers, and email us to book a quiet session for a low-stimulation visit.

The library membership options are:

1. Standard: $100 per year plus a $50 refundable bond^

2. Concession: $50 per year for current Health Care Card holders plus a $50 refundable bond^

3. Casual: $30 once off, plus a $50 refundable bond^, which allows you to borrow a maximum of 20 toys

^bond is paid once at sign-up

Members can borrow six toys at a time for up to four weeks and can return and borrow toys as many times as they like (causal membership is capped at 20 toy loans). Families, grandparents, and carers are welcome to join.

As a community organisation, the Leederville Toy Library is reliant on volunteers to operate and keep the membership costs low. Which is why we ask members to compete up to three duty rosters each year (i.e., helping to check and count toys) and participate in an annual stocktake. Volunteering is a great way to meet local families and see what toys are available (and put aside your favourites to borrow!). If you feel that you cannot complete these volunteer duties, please email leedervilletoylibrary@gmail.com to discuss alternative ways that you can contribute to the library.

You can read the membership Terms and Conditions here and the Code of Conduct here.
